2010 Baseball Preview From Coach Renegar

Good People,
Despite the weekend rain, the HVA baseball team will open up its 2010 campaign tonight at Anderson County. I believe our team is as ready as it could be for tonight. I have no doubt that there are going to be things we are going to have to learn while playing and we will certainly face adversity throughout the season. However, I feel that we are going to have a chance to be a good team and I really like our club. We were able to finish up our pre-season with a 12-8 victory versus Lenoir City on Wednesday, and I feel that we should be ready to roll tonight.
This week should be a good barometer for our team as we play 7 games in 6 days with the JV team playing 3 times as well. We will start the year with a 4 man rotation of Joey Covell, Nathan Richardson, Ryan Russell, and Bryan Kolwyck, respectively. Freshmen Cole Brill is also expected to get a varsity start this weekend in the Nike Week One Tournament. We will still be relatively young, but all of our starters have varsity experience. Tonight we will be starting 4 sophomores, 5 juniors and 1 senior.
