2009 Team
The 2008 season is over, but we are already planning for the 2009 season. At this point, the plan is to have an interest meeting in mid-April and tryouts will follow in early May.

If you are interested in being on the team for the 2009 season, please be prepared to be judged on the following criteria:
  • 5 mile run time
  • Sprint time
  • Skill Work - juggling, ball control, first touch, accuracy, etc.
  • Team skills - leadership, team player
  • Attitude - on the field and off the field
  • Grades
  • Overall fitness - at the time of tryouts and at the start of pre-season
  • Ability to read the game while playing (anticipation)
If you make the team, you will be involved in a soccer camp later in the summer (a residential camp at a college) and be required to attend all practices and games.

We are looking forward to tryouts for 2009!

Coach Becka Wilson becwilson8@comcast.net

About Coach Wilson...

I was raised in Leesburg, Virginia – a town 45 minutes outside D.C.  I started playing soccer in elementary school; my dad coached me until 8th grade.  At that point I realized that soccer was more than a hobby but a passion, so I joined a very competitive club team. I stayed on that team and played for my High School until college.  I was recruited to play soccer for ETSU in their inaugural season.  While at ETSU, I met my husband, Corey Wilson.  We have been married and living in Knoxville for 5 years.  We have a 2 year old daughter that keeps us on our toes!  I have my B.S. in Exercise Physiology from ETSU and my M.S. in Exercise Physiology from UT.

 My Soccer Experience:

1993-1997                                    Played for Reston, Real Madrid W.A.G.S. League, Premier Division

                                                   Virginia State Cup

                                                   ’93 & ’94 semi-finalist, ’95 finalist

1994-1997                                    Played for Loudoun County High School, Leesburg Virginia

                                                   Captain all 3 years

1995-1997                                    Virginia State ODP

                                                   Regional Camp

1997-2001                                    East Tennessee State University

                                                   MVP ‘98

                                                   Team captain ’97 & ‘98

Volunteered for local girls teams during school year

Worked summer camps for Moravek School of Soccer
and Soccer Academy in Northern Virginia

                                                   Referee for youth games

2001                                            USSF “E” coaching license

2004 & 2005                                 Volunteer Boys AYSO coach

2003-2006                                    Played in KMSL, co-ed B division

My goal is to provide an atmosphere where the girls can be successful students and competitive athletes.  I believe in a balance between hard work and a good time.  I want the girls to enjoy playing soccer, but I also will push them to be as good as I believe they can be.  I want them to reach and even surpass the potential I see in them on and off the field.
